St Andrew’s Day Toast 30th November 2020
With social distancing restrictions remaining in force and preventing us holding our traditional St Andrew’s Ball, the Society held a small gathering on Monday 30th November to mark the occasion of St Andrew’s Day. Attended by 34 members and friends of the Society, the evening was held at the Mandarin Oriental where guests were able to spread out over 3 areas so as to be able comply with social distancing protocols. In addition to the toasts, the Chieftain Andrew Abram updated those present on the results of the AGM and Immediate Past Chieftain Roger Finnie was presented with his Chieftain’s pin by his predecessor, William Gray.
Guests were able to enjoy a traditional meal of soup and haggis which was followed by desert and tablet
Capping the evening’s events was a lucky draw prize sponsored by the RIO Club for a bottle of whisky, there were mixed reports as to whether the contents or just the bottle made it home with the winner. Many thanks to everyone who came and joined us on the evening and we look forward to returning to a full St Andrew’s Ball in 2021, conditions willing..
